During the UN Emergency Summit for Horn Of Africa, hosted by FAO in Rome, August 18th 2011 aquiess offered to deliver rainfall to break the drought in the Horn Of Africa.
We promised "early rain, delivered within 45 days; to enhance the season and to extend the short rainy season.." What followed was described by the US Climate Prediction Center:
"..considerably high rainfall and moisture anomalies going back since the start of
October. Seasonal rainfall surpluses ranging between 100-200mm cover a broad area in the Greater Horn, as many local areas in eastern Kenya and southern
Somalia have received over 4 times their normal rainfall accumulation during the last two months" - December 4 2011, NOAA Climate Prediction Center, USAID / FEWS published update.
